They say you get what you pay for. Often the question is- "Is the value of the product worth the price." Sometime a product cost twice the price but only last one and half times as long.

If you're not good with people, maybe you should rethink starting your own business. People skills will make or break your business and if you have none, your customers will probably find someone else to do the work.

Check your local laws on spreading fertalizer and weed killer. My boy does lawns. Here in Michigan you have to have a license and a permit with the Department Of Agriculture. Not sure if I spelled it right. I'm sure the fines are not light so my boy does not even use the stuff. If a costomer asks for a chemical to be spread he refers them to a local company that is licensed in that area.(tru green for example).

Roundup is very effective and is pet safe as soon as it dries. It comes as a spray you can adjust to pinpoint any weed as it will also kill the grass. It dries very quickly on a nice day. I have used it where kittens are present and they have never had any problems, nor have my dogs as long as I follow the rules on the label.

You are right, don't put the fliers on mailboxes. However, you can put them on front doors. Maybe you could make a sign for your yard and advertise. Or this website has SUPER cheap yard signs.

Good Luck!

Leaves are great for your lawn!! Take your lawn mower over them several times until they are mulched down into little pieces....you won't want to leave clumps of them in your yard or that will leave bare spots where the clumps have laid and killed the grass.

I would suggest that you use a good post emergent crabgrass killer. Something containing MSMA or fenoxaprop. If you can't find that use quinclorac, but it doesn't work nearly as well. Then in the fall when it cools down, aerate your lawn and seed the bald areas with a good tall or fine fescue. Use a starter fertilizer on the whole lawn and then overseed the other areas with fescue seed as well. Cover the bald areas with straw or use patchmaster in those areas. Then next spring apply a good preemergent crabgrass material before the next set germinates. This might be tricky as you need to give the other grass a chance to germinate but need to beat the crabgrass before it comes up.

Good Luck!
