General lawn care questions?

lawn care
Dude asked:

I have an acre of lawn in central Florida, it’s green and thick for the most part.. but there are areas where it’s yellowish and the grass is sparse. What can I do to make the grass thick and green? Fertizlize? Reseed? Water?

Thx

first prick it thoroughly with a fork in the places it is brown ..sprinkle lime to sweeten the soil..re-seed with either rye grass or high class grass seed roller to even the soil and rake gently.to loosen the top soil.and water in..fertilize after the grass has grown to a defined size..if you fertilize too soon it will burn the new shoots..do not cut for a few months..until well established..not too short on first cutting..

Have someone check your lawn, you may have bugs (like grubs that eat the roots of the grass) or fungus that is killing the lawn. After you determine what it is, you can treat for that and reseed the area.
