It has spikes and are metal or very hard ceramic tips, that breaks the layer and allow the soil to air among other benefits. They look like the golfer shoes (the bottom part) but they are for lawn purpose.
I meant, you wear them on the bottom, not on the top.

They’re called shoe aerators. They aerate the soil. You can get them from Walmart for $10 according to Google.
