a mole?? varment?? Is it a grub?? A worm is not an animal per say so it’s hard to know what your trying to figure out!! EEEK Does it have NO eyes?? If not it’s a mole. A grub if worm like. Also depends on where you live!!
Grub. You need to apply an insecticide to your entire yard and your flower beds or they’ll kill a lot of stuff.
It’s white grub or billbug. They chew on the roots and attract skunks who dig up your grass to eat them. They are only controllable in late June when they are close to the surface.
The pro tip would be buy some grass seed and a bag of vigoro’s starter fertilizer. It has a good amount of phosphorus for root growth and no pre-emergent chems. Power rake the whole yard first then loosen the soil in the patches and sprinkle seed directly in each patch. To boost the roots on the rest of the lawn spread the starter fertilizer like it was normal fertilizer and over seed.
Increase water by 50% for two weeks after seeding and spray deer-off around your yard if you have skunks. The fertilizer might turn the grass a new leaf green for a few months.
