Not sure about what type of grass to grow, but I can recommend a great product that will help you have a lush, green lawn. It is called "Pozzolan" or "Lassenite ATS". It is an all natural soil amendment that you mix in with the soil at about a depth of 6 inches. It will greatly improve the drainage of sandy soil. It also holds water in the soil and releases it back to the plant as needed so you can reduce your watering by at least half. They have been using this product in the middle east to grow grass in the desert.

Great product that does great things. you will need to ask your local nursery or garden supply store if they carry it.

Good luck!
